Anna den Drijver (The Hague, 1975) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam, working primarily through self-published photobooks. Her practice explores how contemporary image culture shapes perception, identity, and human connection in an increasingly mediated world.
Combining contemplative photography with appropriated imagery and material interventions, Den Drijver reflects on the fluid and unstable nature of identity, and on the tension between visibility and disappearance, intimacy and distance. Central to her work is the photobook as a tactile and conceptual medium, where sequencing, materiality, and touch become part of the meaning itself.
Her recent publication Echo’s Touch explores longing, resonance, and embodied connection through images of hands, threads, birds, and organic forms. Using reflective paper, embossed surfaces, and a heat-sensitive cover, the book becomes a tactile metaphor for the fragile and fleeting nature of human connection in a digital age.
Her work has been presented internationally at fairs and exhibitions including Unseen / Art Rotterdam, Paris Photo, Art Miami, and PAN Amsterdam. Her photobook Enchanted Blossom (2016) was selected by de Volkskrant as one of the most notable Dutch photobooks of the year.
